Lifecycle Shop ride Calendar

Cycling is a social pastime and at Lifecycle we have a strong cycling community who always welcomes new riders on our organised rides.  We have many organised rides which you can find details of in the links below, however, if you're new to our group, or cycling, we recommend that you begin with our Saturday morning rides.  Our groups include riders of all levels, from beginners to elite, it's a great mix and it means you can learn from everyone.  Feel free to call Lifecycle for more information or if you have questions.

Saturday Rides

Over the years our Saturday Shop rides have increased in popularity so that most times we now run three and sometimes four groups to cater for different cycling abilities.

Leaving from the shop we have a Fast paced group leaving at around 6:10am followed by an intermediate group at around 6.15am and for the experienced riders not looking to break records there is a group departing at around 6:20am.   We finish each ride at the The Stores/London Fields, 400 Montague Road, West End.

Below is a list of the routes our shop ride rotates through and if you’d like to join our shop ride notification email then please send a request to: [email protected]

Nudgee Beach Ride

Distance: 50km
Average Speed:
 group 1 - 35 kmh average, group 2 - 30kmh average, group 3 - 26km/h average
Ride Time:
1.5 hours
Departure time:
 6:10am, 6.20am and 6:30am
Difficulty Level:
 5/10.

There are a few hills (on Crosby Road) and there you may experience some wind around the water front. This ride also has an added bonus of  change of pace and a ‘sprint’ after we turn off the bike path and before the turn around at Nudgee Beach. If you get dropped don’t panic as group 3 will re-group at several spots along the way and group 1 and 2 allow for riders dropped to join the following group.

River Loop

Distance: 45km

Average Speed: group 1 - 36k+ average, group 2 - 31k average, group 3 - 27k average
Ride Time:
1.5 hours
Departure time:
 6:10am, 6.15am and 6:20am
Difficulty Level:
 6/10.

This ride takes you over the famous Brisbane river loop ride, a staple ride for Brisbane cyclists. There are many turns and one decent climb at Dutton Park. This ride is a good test of bike handling ability and many riders try to make it up the Cemetery Hill/ Gladstone Rd climb as fast as possible!

West Side

Distance: 50km

Average Speed: group 1 - 32 kmh average, group 2 - 28km/h average, group 3  - 25 kmh average
Ride Time:
1.5 hours
Departure time:
 6:10am, 6.20am and 6:30am
Difficulty Level:
 7/10.

This loop is around 50km with undulations and hills. It’s a spin-off of the the River loop and after we pass through Indooroopilly we wind our way around the suburbs West of the river.  The ride meets the bike path beside the Western Freeway at Jindalee and then goes to Seventeen Mile Rocks and then through Oxley and Chelmer.  To finish up we cycle along Coronation Drive and back to the cafe.

Samford

Distance: 40km or 55km

Average Speed: group 1 - 32 km/h average, group 2 - 28 kmh average, group 3 - 24 kmh average
Ride Time:
 2 hours
Departure time:
 6:00am and 6.30am
Difficulty Level: 7/10 8/10.

The full Samford Loop for group 1 and 2 departs a little earlier as we cover a bit more ground on this ride. Expect hills and some decent tempo particularly over and back the Samford range.  This ride suits more experienced riders.
The shorter version at 6.30am rides to top of the Samford range before regrouping for the mostly downhill run home.

All rides start and finish at Lifecycle shop. We rotate the route each week so please check our calendar to find out where the next ride is headed.
