Mt O’Reilly Challenge

The Mt O’Reilly challenge is a test of cycling strength with it’s victors summiting Mt O’Reilly Road, Samford.  Mt O’Reilly Road is perhaps the hardest climb in Queensland with estimations of 20-26% gradients up a narrow, crowned road.

Pictures don’t do this climb justice as the road continues on much further than what’s seen in the pictures and the narrow road slopes aggressively to each side.  To have any chance of making it you must ride straight up the center, swerving up only results in failure.

Everyone is encouraged to join us for the 2 hour ride.  We leave the Lifecycle car park, cycle just past Samford Village to Mt O’Reilly road and then return.  Most people attempt the climb but it’s only a select group who have summited.  Stay tuned to the news for the date of the next challenge.

Some of these riders make the Lifecycle Mt O’reilly honour roll but some do not!
