Now you can ride the same bike as Tom Boonen rode in his spectacular victory in the 3rd stage of the Tour of Qatar. We will soon be receiving the new Specialized Tarmac SL2 in store at Lifecycle. In winning the 147.5 km stage, Boonen retains his first place in the general classification. The stage win is the Belgian racer's 14th stage win in the Tour of Qatar.
The all new Tarmac SL2 is the most efficient and best handling road bike on the market. When Specialized set out to build the lightest, most efficient road bike ever, there wasn't a manufacturing process that could do the job. So they created one—'Az1'. Using Az1 they seamlessly join discrete carbon monocoque sections into a single chassis, creating a frame with unsurpassed strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios.
The Specialized Tarmac SL2 is priced at $10999.
The SL2 features an S-Works FACT 11r carbon frame in a compact race design with a monocoque carbon fork. Super light and top of the range 10-speed SRAM Red componentry is included alongside an S-Works Barmac Wedge carbon bar and stem combo featuring superlight integrated carbon design and adjustable stem angle. A S-Works FACT carbon crankset comes standard with integrated oversize design for increased stiffness. A standout feature of the SL2 is its Roval Rapide SL carbon wheelset with a mid-section full carbon clincher rim, carbon front hub body, alloy rear cassette hub and Roval titanium quick releases. The SL2 has been praised for its incredible performance and awesome ride. Here is an excerpt from bicycling.com's review of the SL2: "I'll be blunt–this is one of the best bikes I've ever ridden. In every circumstance, on all kinds of roads, it behaved exactly as I desired–like a perfect, high-performance extension of my body that was at the same time reasonably forgiving."
Blair says that he is looking forward to getting the SL2 in store and is keen to see people riding the "greatest road bike ever".
